Menopause
Is hormone therapy for menopause safe?
Medically reviewed by: Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çınar — Obstetrics & Gynecology, IVF and Reproductive Medicine SpecialistLast updated:
Short answer
The benefits and risks of menopausal hormone therapy are individual. Current understanding is that benefits are more pronounced when treatment is started below the age of 60 and within the first ten years after menopause, while breast cancer risk increases modestly with long-term combined use. The decision is therefore made through individual assessment and regular follow-up.
