What is Laparoscopic Surgery? What Are Its Advantages?

Advantages such as less pain and faster recovery offered by the closed surgery method (laparoscopy) commonly preferred in gynecology compared to open surgery.

What is Laparoscopy?

Laparoscopy is a method in which intra-abdominal organs are examined and treated with the help of small incisions and camera-equipped instruments.

Advantages of Closed Surgery

  • Less Pain: Post-operative pain is significantly reduced as large incisions are not made.
  • Fast Recovery: Patients are usually discharged the day after surgery and return to their daily lives faster.
  • Aesthetic Results: Because it is performed through small holes between 0.5 and 1 cm, there is no large scar on the abdomen after the operation.
  • Low Infection Risk: Since the internal organs do not come into contact with the air, the probability of developing an infection is much lower than open surgery.
